Pizzelle Press
I honestly can't believe how long it has taken me to pull this machine out and make a batch of these. Years. It was a Christmas present from my sister-in-law, and I remember being so excited to try it out! Well, it finally happened. The batter is nothing at all like waffles, which is what I was expecting. It's more like cake batter, or cookie dough, and is very sweet. I never got good at making them consistent in size, and I kept either cooking them for too long or not long enough! They harden and get crunchy like a waffle cone. I think they're amazing little beauties.
The press came with a little wooden dowel that's meant to flatten them so they're even more thin. I'll try that next time for sure. Although these are yummy treats just as they are, I prefer them with caramel sauce sandwiched between two cookies! Mrs. Richardson's Butterscotch Caramel, to be exact. I think the next time I make these, I'll try pressing them into a form to make "bowls" for ice cream while they're still soft. Mmm, sounds like a dream.
They certainly have a pretty design on them! They look yummy!!
