Leather Shoesies

I forgot to post pictures of the final product! I was feeling frustrated because within a week, Jasper had officially outgrown his Robeez, we had lost one of his sandals AND both of his Sunday shoes. So, I decided to try my hand at making him a pair with some leather scraps I had been saving. I've always been intrigued by shoe-making and knew that someday I wanted to try my hand at them... what better time than this?! So, I made one mock up, which had several flaws, so I went back to the drawing board, made some changes to the pattern that I had created on the fly, and crossed my fingers they'd work... and they did! It feels so good when things work! I used large eyelets because that's what I had, and pulled the "laces" from the drawstring bag that my jersey sheets came in and then called it good. I would not suggest using 100% cotton laces.. they get dirty fast and stay dirty forever. Also... funny story. I lost one pair of these about 2 weeks after I made them and haven't seen it since. Phooey. The good news? Jasper is growing at a rapid pace and is fitting into his big brother's shoes, now, so it's all good!
